Integrative Acupressure for Cancer and Supportive Care
About this Event
Course Title: Integrative Acupressure for Oncology & Palliative Care
Description:
This two-day training teaches safe, gentle acupressure for people with cancer, complex conditions, and those in palliative or end-of-life care. It is designed for therapists and healthcare professionals looking to expand supportive-care skills with an adaptable, evidence-informed approach.
Participants will learn how acupressure works from both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine perspectives, including touch neurophysiology, autonomic regulation, and key TCM concepts like Qi and Yin-Yang. The course also introduces auricular acupressure (ear seeds) for safe, simple self-care support.
Through demonstrations, hands on practice, and case studies, learners build confidence in tailoring techniques for frail patients, maintaining clinical safety, and integrating acupressure into oncology, hospice, and ward settings.

Note: The Integrated Therapies Training Unit (ITTU) continuously strives to provide current, evidence-based educational events to equip Integrative Therapists and Health Care Professionals with relevant skills and knowledge to apply in their roles.
Although many of the courses discuss ways of adapting practice when providing therapies to patients with a cancer diagnosis, we maintain that the aims of our educational events are to increase understanding of cancer and the delivery of suitable complementary therapies for therapeutic purposes in this patient cohort. Therapies are to be offered alongside medical treatment as a means to enhance physical and psychological wellbeing, and never as a treatment for the underlying cancer.
