Chemical warfare, mating rituals, and epic journeys: a whirlwind tour of monarch butterfly biology
"Monarch butterflies are iconic: their long-distance migration and unique reliance on milkweed host plants have long captured the attention of scientists and naturalists, and they have become flag-bearers for insect conservation. In this presentation, I will give an overview of monarch butterfly biology, including their life cycle, annual migration, and ability to hijack milkweed toxins for their own benefit. I will highlight current research into monarch biology, including recent advances in tracking technologies and ongoing studies from my own research group on chemical fingerprinting. Finally, I will the discuss the status of monarch conservation and highlight interventions that are (or are not) helpful for reversing population declines observed at their Mexican overwintering sites.".

Following up on The Human Genome Project, The Human Cell Atlas is a global consortium of over 4000 scientists that is mapping every cell type in the human body, creating a 3-dimensional Atlas of human cells to transform our understanding of biology and disease.
