Ingrid Persaud is a Trinidad and Tobago-born writer, artist, and academic now based in London. Set in Trinidad, her novel Love After Love won the 2020 Costa First Novel Award and the Indie Book Award for Fiction 2021. She also won the 2018 BBC National Short Story Award and the Commonwealth Short Story Prize in 2017. Her writing has appeared in Granta, Prospect, Five Dials, Alexander, The Guardian, National Geographic and on BBC Radio 4. Before becoming a writer, she taught law at King’s College, London, and worked as a visual artist.Her new novel, The Lost Love Songs of Boysie Singh, an epic of wonder, danger and risk, tells the story of four lives, connected and controlled by one man, the notorious, charismatic Trinidadian gangster, Boysie Singh.
