About this Event
Long before Saint John became Canada’s oldest incorporated city, the Wolastoqey and Mi’kmaq peoples thrived here with cultures rooted in harmony with the land and waters. On this guided storytelling walk, you’ll meander along Harbour Passage and the Beautiful River – Wolastoq, following a historic portage route across archaeological sites that hold echoes of the past.
Through story, reflection, and knowledge passed down through generations, you’ll:
- Discover local Indigenous history from a unique perspective.
- Learn about traditional stewardship of the earth and what it can teach us today.
- Experience timeless lessons of resilience, ingenuity, and survival shared through oral tradition.
Though centuries have passed and modern conveniences shape our lives, the respect and protection of the land remains central to Indigenous communities across Canada. This walk is an invitation to reflect, connect, and see the land in a new way.
✨ Come ready to listen deeply, learn, and experience the enduring wisdom of our ancestors.
