Join us on October 3 for a powerful Truth and Reconciliation Day performance by The Hello Crows. This immersive, healing concert blends music, storytelling, and tradition to honour residential school survivors and their families while sharing Wabanaki culture through folk, rock, and heartfelt connection.
Emerging from the rich cultural landscape of their Wabanaki homeland, New Brunswick, The Hello Crows are a powerful Indigenous collective, whose songs and stories are woven with the threads of personal experiences, resilience, and a deep connection to their communities and culture. Their journey began in 2022, when its members (Judie Acquin, Quinn Bonnell, Mattie Comeau, and Dylan Ward), each an individual artist in their own right, performed together for the first time at a Wabanaki Songwriter Circle. This chance gathering, which highlighted their poignant storytelling, while combining traditional and contemporary influences, is considered the catalyst for their creative union. In 2024, they released their debut single, Come Back To Me, an anthem for language reclamation on July 1st (Canada Day) and it quickly resonated with listeners for its authenticity and powerful message. After a steady climb, Come Back To Me eventually landed in the top 10 on the National Indigenous Chart.
During the fall of 2024, and all through the winter months that followed, The Hello Crows hunkered down at Ward’s Shiftwork Recording in Fredericton to record their debut album, with a full release scheduled for September 30th, 2025. Its first single, Warbler, drops in May, and will be the first release on Castle Records, a new Indigenous record label run by New Brunswick hip-hop artist Wolf Castle.
With every note, lyric, and chant, The Hello Crows remind us of the strength of Indigenous identity, the importance of collective storytelling, and the unbreakable bond between music and culture. Combine their powerful individual voices and their own unique perspectives, and The Hello Crows are poised to become a very important voice on the Canadian musical landscape, and beyond
