On Tuesday, September 16, our first program of the fall 2025 series focuses on Indigenous cultural institutions. It's a subject near and dear to Alyce Sadongei (Kiowa/Tohono O'odham).
Sadongei has been a leader in the museum field for many years. She is a staunch advocate for tribal libraries and archives and the preservation of oral history, and a founder of current training opportunities available at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. She's an author, a historian, a cultural advocate, a leader and a quietly humble force of change. Based in Tucson, Arizona, Sadongei lives a life dedicated to celebrating and preserving Indigenous lifeways.
Join us at the Museum to hear from Sadongei and discover how a predominantly Western concept of a museum is being defined by Indigenous museum professionals.
