About this Event
Project Overview
The North Shore Mi’kmaq Tribal Council (NSMTC), in partnership with the Wolastoqey Nation in New Brunswick (WNNB), is leading a multi-year initiative titled Building the Indigenous Supply Chain Supporting SMR (Small Modular Nuclear Reactor) Development and Deployment in New Brunswick. This research initiative is structured across three interconnected project phases:
Phase 1: The development of a Supply Chain Overview and Gap Analysis that proposed a broad definition of the nuclear supply chain, identified gaps within New Brunswick’s existing supply chain and highlighted systemic barriers to Indigenous participation in the emerging SMR economy.

Phase 2 (current phase): In the current project phase, our team has conducted an Indigenous Business Landscape Analysis that has captured and catalogued capacities of the current Indigenous business ecosystem in New Brunswick.
Phase 3: The development of a Strategic Plan for Growing the Indigenous SMR Supply Chain in New Brunswick. Informed by research findings of Phase 1 and Phase 2, the Strategic Plan will identify gaps and define priority enablers to grow Indigenous participation in the New Brunswick SMR and energy sector supply chain.
Workshop Objectives:
- Validate the Vision: We will present our preliminary findings from the latest phase of research. Your feedback will ensure our conclusions accurately represent the current landscape of Indigenous business capacity in New Brunswick.
- Strategic Planning: We will dig into the key opportunity areas that will inform research priorities for Phase 3: Strategic Plan for Growing the Indigenous SMR Supply Chain in New Brunswick
