What makes a hero? Is it sacrifice? A great victory? Or is it just having the guts to follow your dreams, no matter the cost?
The Inland Empire is home to a massive ground swell of independent talent. Artists who have brought visions to life through the strength of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and community. All in a land so often overlooked.
The main event is not to be missed. Attendees will be rewarded by an exclusive sneak peek of the hotly-anticipated short film The Jewel of the Dead by local auteur Zachariah Gutierrez. The Jewel of the Dead is Zach's unique synthesis of the nostalgic action and adventure of Raiders of the Lost Ark with the charm of The Princess Bride, and is a massive achievement for the Inland Empire film scene.
So keep your calendars clear for Thursday August 27th, 2026 at the Barbara and Art Culver Center in Downtown Riverside. Brought to you by th premiere nonprofit for filmmakers and the Inland Empire film scene, The Desert Empire Filmmaker Foundation.
