Indie Indy Book Crawl Riley Literary Tour and Bookfair

Perfect for book lovers and history enthusiasts, visitors will enjoy a full tour of the preserved home of the "Hoosier Poet," James Whitcomb Riley. Been through the Home before? This tour will feature unique books from our collection, on display throughout the Home and Visitor Center!

Learn more about Riley's role in Indiana's "Golden Age of Literature," and how the "Hoosier Poet" defined Indiana to rest of the country. It's all part of our special literary tour of one of the finest preservations of nineteenth-century home in the United States.

Check out this year's special pop-up bookstore, Riley's Bookfair, hosted in the Visitor Center of the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home. No tour purchase needed to visit the bookfair! Walk-ins and book crawlers welcome from 10am-4pm the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday March 20th-22nd.

Riley's Book Fair will feature Sara Shelley previewing her travel themed Perasama Book Store, opening soon in Broad Ripple. At Riley’s Book Fair, Perasma will offer a thoughtfully curated selection of destination-based literature for all ages alongside books that celebrate Indiana and its rich history. Because some of the best adventures are found close to home, this collection is designed to highlight local stories and regional inspiration—right here at the James Whitcomb Riley House

Antiquarian Brad Keen will also have large selection of vintage and gently used children's books for sale. It will be the perfect environment to find a present or aclassic from your youth, right next door to the home of Indiana's first children's author.

The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home is proud to be a literary partner of this year's Indy Indie Book Crawl. Those coming on the special literary tour will have the opportunity to purchase special book crawl merch, and check off multiple bingo sqaures! Each row filled in on this year's bingo card earns participants one entry into the drawing for prizes any literatti would love to win.
