Indian Woodblock Printing Workshop ~ Table Runner & Napkins
About this Event
An Artist-Led Block Printing Workshop
Join me for a calm, full day of festive traditional Indian woodblock printing, held at Oswestry Memorial Hall.
This is a small group workshop designed to give you time to slow down, explore pattern, and create something truly your own.
You will have the opportunity to learn how to print mitred corners using the woodblocks and wreath designs - lots of possibilities and techniques to develop your skills.
You’ll begin by planning your design on paper, exploring simple repeat patterns and understanding composition, spacing, and colour.
You’ll then move on to printing using hand-carved wooden blocks from a large selection of blocks and carefully selected textile paint, practise on cotton fabric before creating your final pieces.
I will guide you every step of the way!
During the workshop you will:
• Plan and design your own repeat pattern
• Learn how to use traditional wooden printing blocks
• Practise on fabric to build confidence with your own design and chosen printing techniques.
• Print and take home a beautiful cotton table runner and four napkins - there will be an opportunity to buy and print more napkins, if you wish on the day.
This session takes inspiration from Christmas, botanical forms and seasonal patterns, and is suitable for those who have some experience of Indian woodblock printing.
All materials are provided.
