Inanna’s Descent into the Underworld is one part of the Ancient Sumerian Epic of Inanna - Queen of Heaven and Earth.
This Grand Myth examines the eternal cosmic cycles of moving into Darkness and returning to Light. Inanna's journey is immediately relevant to the modern experience, though it was written down some 5000 years ago.
Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth, answers a call to the land from which none return. Her sister, Ereshkigal, rules the Underworld.
In a world of constant turmoil, Inanna’s story can provide us with a road map, not just of how to suffer the Darkness of Descent, but also how to follow the Light of Return.
