In the Village : Higher Education

This In the Village session of BLOC building calls together Black professionals in higher education. According to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office, Black Professionals make up only 7% of college faculty nationwide. Join with leading professionals in the region to discuss strategies for sustainment and retention in the field. Dr. Jarvis Givens writes that, “Black teachers, like LaVerne Beard Spurlock, were once students themselves, and they represent an important source for exploring how Black pedagogical traditions carried over.” Join BLOC and regional leaders like Dr. Rodney Smith of William Jewel College to enhance narrative that is written and shared by Black professionals in higher education.
