Welcome back! As a new school year begins, it is time to gather, reconnect, and focus on what matters most: supporting our youth. Whether you are in the classroom every day, guiding students behind the scenes, or leading in the neighborhood, your work shapes the future of our community.
Join us on September 24th for an evening of honest conversation and practical insights from three inspiring local leaders:
- Tyesha Forbes (Special Education Educator & EPP Participant) on creating truly inclusive learning spaces.
- Naissa Isaro (Co-Founder of CivilTea) on building meaningful dialogue across classrooms and communities.
- Carla Molina (Educator, Financial Literacy Youth Initiative) on equipping young people with essential life skills.

Read Our Speakers' Bios:
Tyesha Forbes, Equity Institute EPP Participant + Special Education Educator
Tyesha is a Black special education educator, mother, and advocate whose work is deeply rooted in her lived experience. Raised in a lower-working-class family as the first daughter and third oldest of ten children, caring for others and navigating financial hardship were early realities. She transformed those challenges into academic resilience, becoming the only sibling in her family to earn a master’s degree. Inspired by her own background, Tyesha specializes in supporting children from diverse and traumatic environments. She is committed to holding high expectations for every student, serving as a constant reminder that their background does not limit their potential.
Naissa Isaro, Co-Founder, CivilTea
Naissa is the Co-Founder of CivilTEA, a social education platform that equips young people, educators, and communities with the tools to engage in meaningful dialogue across differences. Through facilitated conversations, CivilTEA creates intentional spaces where people can slow down, listen deeply, challenge assumptions, and build stronger connections. She is very passionate about making difficult conversations more approachable, human, and transformative.
Carla Molina, Educator, Financial Literacy Youth Initiative (FLY)
Carla wants to live in a world where stories and dance are prescribed as medicine. Professionally, she is a financial literacy educator working with high school students throughout Rhode Island. It’s her most recent role serving young people after having been the library teaching partner at Paul Cuffee High School and the operations director at the Rhode Island Urban Debate League. Her philosophy with young people is to hold high expectations while also offering a soft place to land. Carla is always looking for ways to be of service to people of the global majority and to amplify the stories of systematically oppressed communities. Personally, she’s a fierce champion and lover of the arts having most recently performed in West Side Story at Academy Players and devoting her time to the Manton Ave Project, a nonprofit for children’s performance and playwriting. When she’s not adding to her to-be-read pile, you can find her rollerblading, hiking, or enjoying a night at the movies.
