About this Event

In the Bennett House: Sherman & Johnston's Surrender Meeting

Reserve your spot for a special, free presentation of the Bennett Place surrender.

Be in the room where it happened! Join Bennett Place staff for a special presentation inside the reconstructed Bennett farmhouse to learn more about the surrender negotiations between Johnston and Sherman.

This twelve minute presentation features Sherman and Johnston reenactors in historic dialogue, guided by a staff member to provide further context and information.

Due to limited spacing, visitors must reserve a free spot to a presentation. You must show up to the time you reserved. Time slots are 11:30, 11:50, 12:10, 1:20, and 1:40.

Please note this is not a first person skit between the generals, but rather a historic narrative provided by site staff with background acting and occasional dialogue by Johnston and Sherman reenactors.

This vingette is part of our 161st Anniversary programming, which includes more hands-on history stations and scheduled talks. There is an admission cost for the full program; there is not an additional fee for this surrender vignette.
