This hands-on workshop explores how to get more expression out of your 6- or 7-string jazz guitar by focusing on melody, rhythm, and voicing. You’ll work on reharmonizing familiar tunes—whether jazz standards or pop songs—into fuller chord-melody arrangements, using the extra string for deeper voicings and inner lines. We’ll experiment with swing, syncopation, and rhythmic displacement to reshape melodies, and do focused rhythm drills to tighten your time feel. You’ll also explore ways to build a more personal solo voice by combining bass lines, voice leading, and motivic ideas. Open to 6- and 7-string players looking to expand their sound.
