Improv 101 with Emily!
About this Event
About the Class: This is an 8 week long class that will teach the fundamentals of long form Improv Comedy. Topics covered include agreement with a scene partner, character creation, listening as a character and an actor, and exploring the worlds created in scenes. The class ends with a graduation show where the students can show their friends and family the skills learned. Students must be 18 or older for this class!
This Class will run Mondays from 7pm-9pm on the following dates: 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 11/30, and 12/7 . This class has a class show on Saturday 12/12 at 3pm!
Important: Please check your email the week prior to the start date of your class for any updates.
To qualify for the class show you must:
- Adhere to the Lancaster Improv Players' Code of Conduct.
- Attend at least six of the eight sessions (ideally all eight).
- Attend at least two improv shows during the length of the class. During the class you receive standby tickets for all of our regular shows. These tickets get you into shows for free so long as the show has not soldout!

About the Teacher: I’m Emily, and I’ve been doing improv at Lancaster Improv Players for four years. I’m an at-large member of the improv board and have performed on multiple house teams at LIP. When I’m not improv-ing, I have entirely too many hobbies, including ceramics, taekwondo, and gaming.
About The Space: This class will be in our BRAND NEW 8 W King St Location!! It is on the second floor which can be accessed via elevator just a few steps from where you walk in! Full details on the space will be emailed closer to the start of the class, so keep your eyes on your email.
Scholarships: Some scholarships are available to partially or fully cover the cost of the stated class fee. For additional information, please reach out to [email protected] with your request at least a week prior to the start date of the class.
Refund Policy: We will not refund any orders after the start of the first session.
Parking: Street Parking is available and the metering ends Monday-Saturday at 6pm. The parking garages are open! We recommend the Steinman garage. You enter on Vine St and can exit the garage right behind our building! On the weekends the garage is $5 for the full day.
