FDA/ACIP Recommendations
Host: Dr. Oliver Brooks, MD
Info: Oliver T. Brooks, MD, is a clinical professor of pediatrics in the School of Medicine at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. He is retired chief executive officer, chief medical officer, and past chief of pediatric and adolescent medicine at Watts Healthcare Corporation. He is a medical director consultant for LA Care Health Plan, and is past-president of the National Medical Association (NMA). He is also a current Board member and past-president of the California Immunization Coalition, and chair of the Immunize LA Families Coalition. Brooks served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) from 2021 until June 2025. He was co-chair of the California State COVID-19 Vaccine Development Work Group, and is past chair of the California Primary Care Association (CPCA) Clinician Committee. His areas of expertise include coronaviruses, health disparities, and vaccine confidence.

Host: Julissa Soto, CEO, Latino Health Equity Consulting
Info: Julissa Soto is an advocate, community leader, and health equity champion. For over three decades, Julissa Soto has been a force for change, leading the charge for Latino immigrant equality, inclusion, and health equity—not only in Colorado, but across the nation. Her journey began in teen parent programs and has since evolved into a lifelong mission to uplift and empower marginalized communities.
Julissa has held pivotal leadership roles, including her service on the Colorado Vaccine Equity Task Force and her impactful advocacy at the American Diabetes Association. Through each chapter of her career, she has relentlessly designed and implemented culturally grounded programs that break down systemic barriers and build trust within underserved communities.
Whether advancing public health, fighting for immigrant rights, or creating platforms like El Muro No Calla to elevate community voices, Julissa brings unmatched passion, experience, and authenticity to every space she enters.
Emerging Diseases
Host: Dr. Jeffery Goad, PharmD, MPH
Info: Jeffery A. Goad, PharmD, MPH, is President of the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID). He is a professor of Ph*rm*cy practice at Chapman University School of Ph*rm*cy, where he coordinates and teaches courses in travel medicine, immunizations, and parasitology. He is the first pharmacist to serve as NFID president. For more than 20 years, he has maintained an active practice in travel medicine and immunization services. A nationally recognized expert on travel medicine and immunization across the lifespan, he co-founded the Pharmacist Professional Group at the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) and is past president of the California Immunization Coalition and the California Pharmacists Association.
