About this Event
This day-long course consists of lectures, skill stations and simulation teaching sessions in accordance with the Resuscitation Council guidelines
Pre-Course Preparation:
Candidates will receive a copy of the Pocket Guide to Teaching for Clinical Instructors, as well as teaching materials and assessment forms at least four weeks prior to the course, which they must read in preparation for the course. They should use the materials to prepare for their allocated teaching session that will take place during the course.
Programme:
During the one-day course, Candidates will learn about what is needed to deliver an ILS and PILS course, learning and practicing key skills and facilitating teaching simulations.
Assessment and Certification:
Continuous assessment occurs throughout the ILSi course. Upon successful completion of the course and Instructor Candidate spaces, the candidates will receive a Resuscitation Council UK ILS/PILS Instructor certificate,
Learning Outcomes
ILSi teaches the knowledge and skills required to:
- Understand the nature of teaching and learning;
- Understand the needs of individual learners;
- Understand the awareness of the four domains of learning;
- Undertake the various types of teaching sessions on the provider courses.
ILSi must be taken within one year of the date of the provider course.
Who is this course suitable for?
Only candidates who have been recommended as having Instructor Potential (IP) from their provider course can attend:
- ILS Instructor Potential may be gained from doing eILS, ILS or ALS courses.
- PILS Instructor Potential will be gained from doing EPALS and PILS courses.
Please email [email protected] stating your grade, speciality and the course on which you were IP'd on. We will respond on receipt of this information within the next 2-5 working days.
Important: There is an obligation, once you are a full instructor, to teach on 2 full courses within a year. If you do not, then your instructor status will lapse.
Course Cancellation Policy
- Cancellations must be made at least 30 days prior to the course start date to be eligible for a refund or transfer. If you have already received your manual for the course, this fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Cancellations made within 30 days of the course date are not eligible for a refund or transfer, except in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the course administrator.
- Transfers to a future course may be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to a transfer fee.
- Non-attendance without prior notice will result in forfeiture of the course fee.
- Should the course be cancelled by the centre, either a refund or alternative date will be provided.
- This policy is applicable to both internal and external candidates of Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust
