Drawing From the Imagination -

Are you creatively confused, reliant on reference, trapped by tired tropes, sick of being stuck in an artistic rut?

Panic not!

This workshop is designed to help you cast aside the shackles of reference, unleash your imagination and never be stuck for inspiration again! This may sound a little much but, by revealing the secret creative sauce (trademark pending), we'll be reassessing your relationship with your art and enabling you to shake off the doodling doubt will be able to reach into the depths of your imagination and conjure untold worlds.

If this all sounds a little bit too high brow then worry not Guy will be delivering this workshop in his inimitable relaxed style (complete with bad jokes) as we explore how to capture your imagination through fun activities drawing exercises and of course a focus on the fundamentals of illustration.

About the Artist

Guy Williams is a freelance illustrator and qualified teacher. Born in the heart of West Yorkshire, Guy works in a variety of styles and mediums while specialising in illustrating children’s books and describing himself as a ‘cut-price Quentin Blake’.

Looking at his work this may not actually be true as it clearly reflects an unhealthy obsession with comics and fantasy art, alongside Mr Blake’s loose line work. Working both traditionally and digitally his work reflects a very graphic style with strong linework and a disdain for straight lines. Though specialising in Children’s illustration he has completed any number of projects ranging from storyboarding and comics to graphics and logos but is never happier than when he’s doodling in ink and letting his imagination go wild. Working alongside Calder Graphics he hosts the monthly art event Pen and a Pint and in his ‘spare time’ runs a martial arts club.
