Illinois in the Revolutionary War
--- Saturday, August 22
--- 2-3:30pm; Community Room 1
Freelance writer and historical researcher Tom Emery will showcase his recent work, “Illinois in the Revolutionary War”, focusing on the dominant figure of the American Revolutionary War in Illinois, George Rogers Clark.
Emery will discuss Clark’s lieutenants, his daring captures of Kaskaskia and Vincennes, the British officers who opposed them, and military engagements in the state. He will also discuss the role Illinois' Native American population played in the conflict and will give emphasis to the legacy of the war, which was felt for decades and still lingers today.
Emery has authored titles such as “Abraham Lincoln and the Heritage of Illinois State University”, “Moments in Lincoln’s Life”, and “Stories of Historic Illinois Women”, just to name a few.
