About this Event
Step into the gallery of Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art and experience Ikebana — the Japanese art of seasonal flower arranging — surrounded by the powerful works of A Land and 河/River by artists Kimberly M. Becoat & Hong Hong.
In this calming, hands-on workshop led by Ikebana artist Narcisa, participants will create their own floral composition inspired by the exhibition’s themes of memory, displacement, water, land, and the stories we carry within us.
No experience is needed — just curiosity and a desire to slow down.
What You’ll Experience
- A gentle, step-by-step introduction to Ikebana
- Time to reflect on the exhibition and use it as inspiration
- A mindful creative practice that blends art + nature
- A beautiful arrangement to take home
- All materials provided (fresh flowers, greenery, 3D-printed container, kenzan, tools)
Why This Workshop Is Special
You’ll create inside the gallery itself — in conversation with Becoat’s explorations of urban displacement and Hong’s poetic meditations on water, identity, and migration. It’s a rare chance to respond to contemporary art through your own creative process.
