About this Event

Speaker

Dr Sean Clark

Synopsis

This presentation will explore the conservation of computer art, the challenges faced in the field, and why connections with organisations such as the CCS are so important. The speaker will pay particular attention to pioneering work from the 1960s, micro-computer work from the 1980s, and web-based work from the 2000s. He will then present some insights into what we should be conserving now in the world of AI and digital art.

About the speaker

Dr Sean Clark is a computational artist, researcher, curator, and educator whose work explores generative systems, cybernetics, computation, and the relationship between people and technology. He is Director of Interact Digital Arts Ltd, Chair of the Computer Arts Society, and Producer of the Computer Arts Archive CIC. His practice combines software, robotics, sound, and interactive media to create artworks that emphasise process, transparency, and emergence. Alongside his artistic practice, Clark researches the history of computer art, particularly in Leicester, and teaches internationally, including appointments at Guangdong University of Technology and Guangdong University of Science and Technology in China.
