FabGap 3: Do we have a cultural gap that stands in the way of efficiency in construction?
About this Event

Following our first two events in Vienna (2024) and Munich (2025) (www.fabricationgap.org) FabGap3 will look in depth at the cultural misalignment between those involved:

  • Architecture: Are we stuck in an inward looking professional framework that is inaccessible to non-architects?
  • Construction: Is there a widening divide between architects and builders/makers, resulting in a disconnect between design and fabrication?
  • Society: How does society value what we build? What is the broader cultural impact of architectural quality?
  • Money: How do these cultural aspects align with the drivers of the investors?

Thursday 24 September, starting at 14:00, we will be introduction and framing of the conference and keynote lectures. This will be followed by an evening of food and drink on the rooftop of Space House.

Friday 25 September, will run from 9:30 to 16:30, with three panel discussions on the themes of Architecture/Design, Construction and Money, their cultural differences and value systems, and how we can bring them together.
