A half-day workshop to celebrate Stephen's 44-year academic career and contributions as a teacher, colleague, mentor, and scholar.
About this Event

Join us at Birkbeck on 24 September to celebrate Stephen Frosh's invaluable contributions as a teacher, colleague, and mentor. This half day workshop will be a chance to reflect on Stephen's influence in psychoanalysis and psychosocial studies across a number of overlapping themes:

Hauntings and Memory

Coloniality, Racism, Anti-Semitism

Building Psychosocial Studies

The workshop will bring together colleagues from Birkbeck and beyond who have worked with Stephen, know his work well, or have been influenced by it. Each panel will involve personal reflections as well as academic contributions, with 3-4 presentations each, followed by a Q&A session. Stephen will deliver a response at the end of the day.

Confirmed speakers include: Jacqueline Rose, Devorah Baum, Josh Cohen, Ben Gidley, Lynne Segal, Claudia Lapping, Jordan Osserman, Ann Phoenix, Magda Schmukalla, and Julie Walsh.

The workshop will conclude with a wine reception co-sponsored by the Association for Psychosocial Studies and the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities.
