HSC Workshop: Visual Arts Induction
An essential presentation for students in Year 11 beginning the HSC Visual Arts course in Term 4. Visual Arts teachers are also welcome.
This session unpacks the dual role students will play as both artist and critic, offering a clear understanding of what lies ahead, from developing the HSC Body of Work to preparing for the HSC written examination. Practical advice will be provided on navigating course content, case studies and time management for school-based assessments and external exams.
This induction equips students with the tools to start strong and stay on track throughout their HSC Visual Arts journey.
Visual Arts teachers are welcome to attend with a group of students or participate as part of their own professional development.
Please bring pens, highlighters, a clipboard, a notebook and a water bottle. A workbook will be provided.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Sarah Fordham is an artist educator with more than 30 years of professional experience. She holds a Bachelor of Art Education and a Master of Cross-Disciplinary Art & Design from the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Sarah's teaching expertise spans primary, secondary and tertiary Visual Arts education. Since 2014, she has lectured in Visual Arts Education at the Australian Catholic University (ACU), designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programs for pre-service primary and secondary teachers in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
In 2022, Sarah was invited by the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) to join the Visual Arts Teachers Advisory Panel, where she provided guidance on the implementation of the new Years 7-10 Visual Arts syllabus.
Sarah enjoys connecting with fellow educators and is regularly invited to work as a curriculum consultant, conference keynote speaker, workshop facilitator and artist in residence. Drawing on her experience as a secondary school Visual Arts teacher, an Artist Educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), and a practising artist and designer, she supports teachers in developing authentic, high-quality programs and resources.
ABOUT THE VENUE:
MARRICKVILLE PAVILION AND LIBRARY is accessible by lift from both the street and ground levels. The venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. There is a hearing loop available.
