HPG Summer Gathering 2026 - August 7-9 - Pinon Mesa, CO.
We are doing an HPG Summer Gathering this year from August 7th-9th. It will be at a DIFFERENT LOCATION than previously announced. The NEW LOCATION is southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Last Friday (7/3/36) I took a drive up to the original location for the Summer Gathering and found out that the FS is replacing the two bridges on the southern route to the site. That in and of itself is not that big an issue. However, they are using the gravel pad and rock below that we have historically camped on for the bridge work. That means the camp site we planned to use is now a gravel quarry. After looking at some other sites we decided to move it a bit closer to Grand Junction to make it easier to keep it scouted. The information below is for the revised location. Given that the new location is not a nice gravel pad, we may have to make a last minute change due to weather so no one gets stuck. If you attend and weather is bad check with the shop for any changes, and the Sign board at the intersection of DS Road and S 16 1/2 Road (see photo below). .
This is a family-oriented car camping event at an unimproved location with good gravel road access suitable for passenger cars. You are responsible for your own food, water, and shelter. Latrine facilities will be provided as in the past.
