🛢️ About the Session
Commodities are the raw materials that run the world: oil, gas, metals, grain, coffee, and cattle. They are traded through futures contracts, and those contracts follow rules that differ considerably from equities. Contract sizes are fixed and often large. Positions are funded on margin and settled daily. Contracts expire.
Most people who lose money in these markets do so because they did not understand the mechanics before they began, not because they picked the wrong direction.
This session covers those exact mechanics. The material is the same whether you intend to trade actively, hedge a business exposure, or simply understand what these markets actually are.
🌍 Markets Covered
- 🛢️ Crude Oil and Natural Gas
- 🥇 Gold and Silver
- 🌽 Corn, Wheat, and Soybeans
- ☕ Coffee and Sugar
- 🐄 Live Cattle
- 💶 The Euro and the Yen
📚 Curriculum
🏦 1. Getting Access Where futures trade, how an account is opened and funded, what the order screen shows, and what capital is realistically required to start.
📋 2. Contract Specifications Contract size, tick size and tick value, delivery months, and the difference between cash settlement and physical delivery. We work through these on paper for several contracts so you can calculate your exact exposure before placing an order.
⚖️ 3. Margin and Leverage How initial and maintenance margin are set, why they change, and where to verify current requirements. Daily mark-to-market, margin calls, and the consequences of failing to meet one.
🛡️ 4. Orders and Risk Management Market, limit, and stop orders — including the circumstances in which a stop will not execute at your intended price. Position sizing relative to account equity, and how positions are rolled ahead of expiry.
❓ 5. Questions and Answers General discussion of market mechanics.
🎯 Who Should Attend
✅ Beginners with no prior experience, and anyone who has traded equities and is considering futures for the first time.
❌ Not for anyone seeking trade recommendations, a "get-rich-quick" system, or discretionary management of their capital. None of these are offered.
🎟️ Tickets and Cancellation Policy
✅ Our guarantee to you: a minimum of 5 registrations is required for the session to run. If that minimum is not met 7 days before the date, the session is cancelled and every ticket is refunded in full, automatically. You will not need to request it or follow it up.
Otherwise, all sales are final. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable, and cannot be moved to another date, exchanged, or passed to another person. The venue is booked and paid for against confirmed registrations, and seats are strictly limited to 15, so a seat held is a seat unavailable to someone else. Please be certain of your availability before purchasing.
