How to Prov About Nothing

Presented by Ben Russell(Naarm/Melbourne) as part of the Brisbane Improv Festival 2026.


How to stop worrying, do less and have more fun. This workshop focuses on using practical techniques to get you out of your head and into the scene. Plot is the enemy and character development and relationship is your ally. Slow down, find the patterns and the gold that's already there and have a nice, fun time.


Workshop Length: 3 hours

Recommended experience level: Intermediate (1 - 3 years experience)


Meet Ben (he/him)

A graduate of The Second City conservatory and iO and a alum of the Harold ensemble there, Ben Russell has over 10, 000 hours of improv experience and over 20 years experience. Ben runs Something Good, a popular weekly improv show at Comedy Republic in Melbourne. He has been seen on Thank God You're Here, Aunty Donna and Most Upsetting Guessing Game on Grouse House.

About the Brisbane Improv Festival

This year’s festival will be held on the 14th - 18th of July 2026 - that’s five nights of incredible improvised shows open to the public, and we will host 14 different workshops for improvisers to expand their skills.
