About this Event
How to Challenge Christian Nationalism: Peacemaking in an Age of Extremism
This FREE workshop defines Christian nationalism from both political and theological perspectives and offers practical suggestions for how we can challenge white Christian nationalism. Drawing on the disciplines of biblical studies, theology, and peace studies, we will explore realistic and effective strategies of nonviolent resistance within the context of faith communities. Special attention will be given to defining white Christian nationalism, political idolatry, nonviolent civil resistance, biblical authoritarianism, and strategies to confront theologies of oppression. The workshop is designed for congregants and leaders from a variety of theological backgrounds. Everyone is welcome!
