Sponsorships and product placement are major financing tools in parts of Asia and the U.S.—and they’re even already relevant for Canadian broadcasters and reality TV.
Independent film producers looking to build smarter, more diversified finance plans can come discuss how to integrate sponsorships and product placement into an indie film (or series) financing plan.
We’ll study how sponsorship and placement are commonly used in parts of Asia, then translate the approach to Canadian realities: smaller budgets, different incentives, different market scale, and different brand expectations.
We’ll also explore a fast-growing U.S. trend: brands funding scripted content (often as a web series or digital-first project) that isn’t a traditional commercial—either produced in-house by the brand or made in partnership with production companies.
Come ready to discuss opportunities and test assumptions about getting sponsorships for your project.
This first meeting will look at how film in other places (i.e., in parts of Asia) has gotten sponsorships in the past—from strategy to outreach.
