The ISC2 Thames Valley chapter welcomes all members and non-members to attend its next HYBRID event on Thursday, July 30th, 2026 starting at 6:30pm BST and finishing at 8:30pm BST. The site is the Pub & Pizza Restaurant Thirsty Bear in Reading (110 Kings Rd, Reading RG1 3BY). We will start serving food and drinks at 6:30pm whereas the guest speaker will start his presentation at 7:00pm BST.

Our guest speaker George Bathurst, will present on the topic "How compliance gets companies hacked.”
George Bathurst - Speaker Bio:
George is a director of Bee.net, a risk management and cyber security consultancy. He specialises in effecting cultural change to assist improving cyber security at both project and organisational leadership levels. He particularly enjoys helping senior leaders to better understand their roles in modern risk-based cyber security and helping organisations to measure their progress.
George Bathurst has more than thirty years' experience in cybersecurity, IT and management. He is a Chartered Engineer with a degree in Electronic Engineering and an MBA. He started his career as a submarine scientist for the Royal Navy and afterwards worked for companies such as Mars and Hewlett Packard. Most recently, he has been the CISO for 3i Global Investment and led the cyber security element for the UK MOD’s transition to Secure By Design, helping them to define and trial it, leading to it acceptance as official policy for the whole UK government.
As a volunteer, George is a founder of a new school for cyber security in Belfast, helping disadvantaged children from all backgrounds as well as veterans and mid-careers, transition into cyber security.

You will be asked for your ISC2 membership number during registration.
