A Sunday event that taps into the essence of the Krishna Conscious experience. Uplifting kirtan, dynamic discussions, & amazing veg dinner.
About this Event

This presentation explores the phenomenon of children who claim to remember past lives and examines how different worldviews attempt to explain such cases. Drawing from the research of psychiatrist Ian Stevenson and the well-known case of James Leininger, Charles Wohrer, Chandrashekhara Acharya compares the modern physicalist understanding of consciousness with the perspective found in the Bhagavad Gita.

The talk discusses reincarnation, consciousness, near-death experiences, karma, subtle body theory, and the philosophical implications of paranormal phenomena, while arguing that the Vedic paradigm offers a more coherent framework for understanding consciousness beyond the brain.

Chandrashekhara Acharya (Charles C. Wohrer) was born in Santa Monica, California, and became a devotee of Krishna at the age of twenty. As a young monk, he distributed thousands of Srila Prabhupada’s books at LAX airport. In the early 2000s, he served as the lead singer of the rock band 18 Days during Indradyumna Swami’s Polish summer tours, and later became one of the early adopters and popularizers of ISKCON’s Krishna West project.

He holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara and a master’s degree in theology from Oxford University. He is the author of American Krishna: A Memoir, and can be followed on YouTube and Instagram at American Krishna.
