Please come join us September 5th, from 11am-5:00pm at Barge 295 for Houston Diesels 4th annual Poker Run benefiting Texas Line of Duty Death Task Force. The Texas LODD Task Force honors fallen and critically injured first responders by providing response, resources, and remembrance programs for first responders agencies and families.
We will be raising money and awareness for Texas LODD Task Force through $1 raffles and our poker run registration. Come by water or land! There is plenty of parking on either side.
We will have fun family-friendly activities throughout the day. The poker run: The poker run is by watercraft only. All watercraft must abided by all TPWD rules and regulations. The buy in for each boat is $100. You can purchase your spot on the Houston Diesels website at- www.houstondiesels.org under the shopping tab. You will NOT be able to purchase a spot the day of. All boats must report to Barge 295 (by water) and check in no later than 10:45am. All boats must be staged within a reasonable distance of Barge 295 (preferably within the no wake zone). At 11am sharp an air horn will sound starting the poker run. All registered will receive a map of all stops. There will be a total of 5 stops. At each stop, a Houston Diesels representative will have a deck of cards. You may pull only 1 card from the deck! It is a blind draw. You will return to Barge 295 with 5 cards in hand. When you return, you may swap one card from your hand with the one card from the master deck at the Houston Diesels booth. You will then turn your best hand in. It is the boat Captains decision on how he navigates his travel to each spot and how much time he spends at each spot. You will then return to Barge 295 no later than 3pm. You will then make the best poker hand you can. If your hand ties with someone else, one member from each team will draw a card from the master deck. The higher card will determine whose hand is better and take higher placement.
The first boat back to the docks at Barge 295 will receive a $100 fuel gift card. The main poker run is 11am-3pm, if you want to “race” to win the gift card, then you may. If you want to take your time and cruise to get your cards, you may do so. All other participants will still be able to win. There will be a payout for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place hands. The boat registration fee will be split 50/50. 50% goes to charity and the other 50% is in pay outs. The more boats, the bigger the pot, the more donated to the cause. The 5 stops are as follows- Marina Bay Harbor, Pier 6, Sunset Lounge, Top Water Grill, and Red Fish Island. Red Fish Island is an island in the bay. If you look it up on your maps, you see it. The GPS coordinates are- 29.517179214740455, -94.88940715060205. You will see a boat there with a Houston Diesels flag. You will meet them for a poker card. You are more than welcome to stop and eat, drink and enjoy your time at each stop. Please remember this is for charity and for fun!
Additional fun this year- Bring us your receipt from each stop, if you purchased something, write your name and number on the back. When you turn your cards in, turn in your receipts. Your receipts will be placed into its own separate raffle for you to win a big prize. With all stops, this will give you the ability to have up to four chances to win something cool! Don’t miss out!
No light bar flashing, train horns, coal rolling, burn outs, or any other obnoxious activities. Please note, the closes boat ramp to the venue is Clear Lake Boat Ramp. You do not have to launch here. You just need to be in the water at Barge 295 and check in by 10:45am.
