About this Event
Exploring the Future of Housing Standards in the North East.
This roundtable will bring together participants from the Housing Standardisation in the North East event series and workshops to discuss the project’s emerging findings. Building on previous events on delivery models, accessibility and healthy-ageing standards, and the adaptation of housing types, it will reflect on the shared learning developed through the exhibition, workshops, and public discussions.
The event will also open a broader conversation about housing innovation and the future of standards and quality in the North East. Rather than understanding standardisation only as a constraint, the roundtable will ask how project knowledge, organisational standards, design governance, typological learning, and architect–client collaboration can support the delivery of well-designed and affordable homes. It will discuss practical recommendations that might help housing providers, designers, policymakers, and communities achieve long-term quality and public value in new housing.
A guided tour of the Housing Standardisation: The Architecture of Regulations and Design Standards exhibition will be available at 16.30 for anyone wishing to see the exhibition before the event.
