Wayne County's Household Hazardous Waste Collection returns on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing Livonia residents with a safe and convenient way to dispose of common household hazardous materials. The collection event will be held at the Westland Shopping Center, 35000 W. Warren Road in Westland, and is open to Wayne County residents with household-generated waste only. Accepted items include paints, stains, household cleaners, automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, fire extinguishers, electronics, televisions, computers, cell phones, non-controlled pharmaceutical waste, lawn and garden chemicals, and more. Commercial waste, household trash, appliances, tires, construction materials, and other non-accepted items will not be accepted. Taking advantage of this free event helps protect our environment by ensuring hazardous materials are disposed of safely and responsibly.
