Join us for this special double bill at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae. Screened within the carved wharenui that holds the layered histories of Tāmaki Makaurau, we are invited to sit with two documentaries and the people who made them.
Hotu Painu, directed by Pita Turei, takes us across the Pacific, confronting the legacy of nuclear testing and exposing colonial violence, environmental harm, and the cost of global power on Indigenous lands and communities.
In contrast, Here is the Māunga, here is the Sea, here is my kura, my whānau, and me, realised by artist Tahi Mapp-Borren, brings us home—following local rangatahi as they connect with important places near Gladstone Kura through joy, creativity, and mātauranga Māori.
Together, these films invite kōrero, reflection, and action, reminding us that kaitiakitanga begins with us and our shared hope for future generations.
This event is part of the Albert-Eden and Puketāpapa Eco Festival. With over 200 local events that celebrate community, climate action, and sustainability, you can check out other festival events and the full Festival Booklet here - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087490238130
