Visit for a FREE evening of creativity and inspiration. Watch artists transform molten glass into stunning works during live, narrated glassblowing demonstrations, explore a contemporary glass art exhibition, and discover so much more during our First Friday Open House at Pittsburgh Glass Center.
☞ What happens when you blow glass INTO a pumpkin? Find out during a festive fall demonstration in our Hot Shop by glass artist Quade. Plus, more live demos at the torch in the Flame Shop.
☞ Tonight we will celebrate the opening of "Forged in Flames: 25 Years of Art on Fire." The exhibition in The Hodge Gallery features 25 internationally acclaimed glass artists whose work and support have helped shape Pittsburgh Glass Center over the past 25 years. Each artist was previously honored as the featured artist for PGC’s annual Art on Fire fundraiser representing some of the most influential and innovative voices in contemporary glass art. Many of the artists will be in attendance for the reception. On view through January 18, 2027.
☞ Pop down the road to our satellite gallery at Pittsburgh Glass Corner, located at 5431 Penn Ave, for the opening night of an exhibition of AACG Visionary Scholarship Winners. The show features 14 artists who received visionary scholarships from the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass (AACG) to attend summer classes at Pittsburgh Glass Center in 2026. Open during the Hot Jam and by appointment through October 30.
☞ Tonight is also a Launch Party for a new glass holiday ornament collaboration between Penn/Fairmount, our in-house glassware line, and Knotzland, local maker of bespoke bowties and accessories. Purchase or place a pre-order for this limited-edition ornament and get your Knotzland x Penn/Fairmount purchases personalized with custom engraving by Oliver Lettering Co.
All ages are welcome!
