Hope, creativity & resilience: an evening with Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
About this Event
Join us for a special evening of discussion with Iranian-British dual citizen, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe. Wrongfully imprisoned for almost six years in Iran, Nazanin made international headlines as a pawn in a feud between her two nation states. Both she and her husband, Richard Ratcliffe, went on hunger strikes for her freedom.
This intimate event takes place at the Centrespace Gallery in Bristol, where artist Niki Groom will be exhibiting her reportage work. Including Love is a doing word (2022), a hand-painted depiction of Richard’s hunger strike outside the Foreign Office.
During her years in detention, Nazanin found solace through sewing with her fellow female prisoners, using fabric Richard sent from Liberty of London. This evening is a chance to hear from Nazanin in her own words, and to explore the dynamic between creativity, hope and resilience.
