Join us for the HOOPLA Tea Party, an afternoon celebrating art, creativity, community, and the radical act of taking up space.
On October 4th, HOOPLA is taking over Old Murphey School for a one-of-a-kind arts experience benefiting HOOPLA and HOOPLA Rising, a free mentorship program empowering young artists to transform reclaimed materials into wearable sculptures of their own.
WHAT TO EXPECT
✨The HOOPLA Rising Runway Showcase
Meet the inaugural HOOPLA Rising artists as they debut original wearable sculptures created from reclaimed materials.
As each piece takes the runway, hear each
artist share their artistic statements, the ideas behind their work, and what taking up space means to them.
✨Spoken Word + Improvisational Dance
Experience poetry and movement exploring the history of the hoopskirt and discover why it’s a stage, not a cage.
✨The Suffragette White Collection
Get a special preview of HOOPLA’s newest collection of wearable sculptures (works in progress).
✨Afternoon Tea
Sip tea, enjoy bites and sweets, and gather around the table for conversation and community.
✨Live Drawing
Grab a pencil and sketch live models in HOOPLA wearable sculptures during an outdoor, all-levels drawing session.
No experience necessary!
✨Silent Auction
Bid on art, creative experiences, local adventures, dining, workshops, locally made goods, and more—all generously donated by artists and businesses from our community.
Your ticket does more than get you into the Tea Party.
Every ticket, auction bid, and donation helps support HOOPLA and HOOPLA Rising, providing young artists with free materials, mentorship, creative resources, and opportunities to take up space.
