An Eight-Month Hands-On Herbal Education Program


Learn. Create. Heal. Together.


The Maat Herbal Wellness Academy is an immersive, eight-class educational series designed for adults who want to develop practical skills for incorporating herbs into everyday wellness routines.


During this hands-on program, participants will explore foundational herbal practices while creating teas, syrups, oxymels, salves, body products, tinctures, glycerites, seasonal wellness plans, and a home herbal pantry.


Your registration includes all eight scheduled classes, classroom ingredients, standard supplies, take-home projects, printed educational materials, digital resources, and a certificate of completion.


No previous herbal experience is required. Beginners and experienced wellness enthusiasts are welcome.


Academy Dates and Times


All classes are held on Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at The Maat Gathering Place of Healing.


Class One: Herbal Tea Blending Lab

Learn the foundations of herbal tea formulation, flavor balancing, brewing methods, herbal safety, and proper storage.


Participants will create:


Two personalized herbal tea blends

A daily wellness blend

A goal-specific blend for relaxation, digestion, energy, or seasonal support

Class Two: Kitchen Apothecary

Discover how common culinary herbs and pantry ingredients can be incorporated into practical home wellness preparations.


Participants will create a selection of products such as:

Class Three: Herbal Syrups, Oxymels and Fire Cider

Learn several traditional methods for preparing herbs with honey, vinegar, and other kitchen-based ingredients.


Participants will create preparations such as:


Elderberry syrup

Herbal oxymel

Fire cider

Herbal honey preparation


Storage, labeling, serving guidance, ingredient safety, and shelf-life considerations will also be discussed.


Class Four: Herbal Salves and Healing Balms

Bring everything together by creating an organized and practical home herbal pantry.


Participants will assemble:

Recipe and reference binder

Personal herbal pantry plan


The final class will also include a program review, graduation recognition, and presentation of certificates of completion.

Attendance and Missed-Class Policy


Registration includes all eight academy dates listed above.


Because each class requires advance preparation, ingredient purchasing, and individualized materials, there are no scheduled makeup days or replacement classes for participant absences.


Participants who miss a class may receive:


The printed class materials

Applicable recipe and reference sheets

Designated nonperishable supplies or materials prepared for that session

Available digital resources


Some items may require pickup from The Maat Gathering Place of Healing during a designated pickup period.


Completed products, perishable ingredients, live demonstrations, guided preparation, personalized instruction, and hands-on class experiences cannot always be duplicated or provided after an absence. Missed classes are not eligible for individual refunds, credits, or transfers.


Participants are strongly encouraged to review all academy dates before registering.


Certificate of Completion


Participants who complete the academy requirements will receive a Maat Herbal Wellness Academy Certificate of Completion.


This is a community education program. The certificate confirms participation in the academy but does not represent professional licensure, medical training, clinical certification, or authorization to diagnose, prescribe, or treat health conditions.

No participant will be required to consume any product made or sampled during the program.


What to Wear and Bring


Participants should:


Wear comfortable clothing that may safely tolerate minor spills or stains

Wear closed-toe shoes during preparation-based classes

Bring a notebook or journal

Bring a water bottle

Arrive approximately 10–15 minutes before class

Notify the instructor of allergies or accessibility needs in advance


All standard classroom equipment and ingredients will be provided unless otherwise stated in the pre-class email.

Registration and Seating


Space is limited to preserve the hands-on and interactive nature of the academy. Registration is required, and a seat is not reserved until payment has been successfully completed.


One registration admits one participant to the complete eight-class series. Tickets may not be shared among multiple people.


Refund and Transfer Policy


Academy enrollment reserves materials and classroom space for all eight sessions. After the stated refund period, payments are nonrefundable.


Missed classes are not eligible for refunds, prorated credits, makeup sessions, or transfers to future programs. When available, corresponding educational materials may be provided under the missed-class policy.


Requests to transfer a complete academy registration to another eligible adult must be submitted in writing and approved before the first class. Individual sessions cannot be transferred separately.


If The Maat Gathering Place of Healing must cancel or reschedule a class, registered participants will be notified and provided with a replacement date, appropriate credit, or other resolution determined by the organizer.
