In this two part class officers will develop a comprehensive understanding of advanced investigative practices, including the ability to identify the essential components of obtaining and effectively using a GEO-fencing search warrant, as well as recognizing its investigative value in Homicide cases. They will examine key case law related to cell phones and its impact on modern investigations. Additionally, students will learn the critical elements of interview and interrogation techniques used to “lock in” witness and suspect statements early in a case. They will also gain familiarity with structured methods for organizing and managing long-term major investigations. Finally, students will learn to identify and apply three core questions used during post-case reviews to strengthen investigative performance moving forward.Additionally, the second part of the class will prepare patrol officers with a focused overview of key police dog applications. The training covers search and seizure considerations, detection work, tracking, containment, and apprehension. Each topic will be discussed in detail to give officers a clear understanding of how to effectively and legally integrate K-9 resources into patrol operations.
