Homeschool families are invited to spend a special day at Körner’s Folly exploring the world of Victorian textiles by becoming a fiber artist for the day! This engaging program highlights the Körner family’s historic clothing and textile collection, offering students a unique opportunity to get up close with garments and fabrics from the past while discovering how they were made, worn, and used.
Through hands-on activities, homeschoolers will explore the artistry and craftsmanship behind everyday materials. Participants can try their hand at creating small weaving projects, crafting yarn dolls, and experimenting with fibers just like those used in the 19th century.
This program also includes self-guided tours of the 22-room house museum, a special textiles themed scavenger hunt with never-before-seen pieces, historic yard games and toys, and interactive stations in the Community Room of the John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitor Center. Activities can be completed in any order, allowing families to explore at their own pace while engaging with history through touch, creativity, and play.
Last house entry time is at 1:00 PM. Plan to come early or stay later after your tour to enjoy all activities! Families are welcome to bring lunch to enjoy picnic-style on the grounds or in the John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitor Center Community Room.
