Travel back to frontier days and learn how settlers created their lives from the ground up. From clearing land & building shelters to cooking, sewing, and survival, this program brings history to life!
-Learn how clothing was made from flax and hemp to finished fabric
-Explore cooking on open hearths
-Discover how homes were built, heated, and lit
-Hear about early medicine, folk remedies, and daily challenges
-See how people balanced hard work with recreation and religion
Featuring presenter and author Eddie Price, with authentic tools and utensils used by early Kentuckians!
This program will be held May 28th at 5:30 at the Pike County Public Library. No registration required.
A part of the library's America 250 programming, this program was funded in part by Kentucky Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
