Who Are Alcedo Care?
We are an award winning care provider aiming to deliver the highest possible standard of care and service to all our clients, and always striving to enrich lives and support independence.
We are a family
Alcedo is a family business with family values at its heart. Relationships are important to us. That’s why from day one we really get to know both our staff and our clients. It’s always personal – we recruit quality staff, provide outstanding training and personalise each care plan to the individual.
To make Alcedo feel like a family, we encourage a culture of trust, support and respect. This means building relationships with staff and clients and treating them all as individuals. We listen to people, communicate openly and support both our colleagues and clients through thick and thin. We celebrate successes, encourage creativity and empower staff to share ideas and really get to know each other.
We recognise and reward hard work and offer staff exceptional career progression opportunities. We know that when colleagues feel valued and supported, they are more engaged and productive.
We have the local touch
We’re a large company with a local touch. We’re big enough to invest in the best and get things done, but small enough to care and have a local community focus. No matter how much we grow, we’ll always be committed to providing personalised service and support, and to making a positive impact on local communities and the lives of people we support.
We are one of the highest rated homecare groups in the UK, with multiple awards and recognitions under our belt. Our clients repeatedly vote for us to achieve homecare.co.uk top 20 home care provider status.
We keep things local by hiring local staff who are familiar with the areas, we arrange fundraising for local causes, sponsor local grass-roots organisations such as football teams and we engage with local schools to inspire the next generation of care professionals.
We provide diverse services for diverse needs
It’s more than tea and toast! While we do support older people in their everyday lives at home, we also provide nurse-led care for people with complex needs, including brain or spinal injuries, neurological conditions, Multiple Sclerosis, tracheostomy, epilepsy and mental health conditions.
We support people of all ages and people who need different levels of support. From an hour a day to 24/7 live-in care, we provide a diverse range of options and always tailor care to each individual’s unique needs.
We also care for people in supported living settings and are growing our children’s residential services.
As well as dedicated Care Assistants, we recruit exceptional registered nurses and mental health nurses who lead our Complex Care division – providing support for a variety of long-term medical conditions such as muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, brain damage, learning disability or a temporary condition caused by a brain or spinal injury, disease, or recovery after surgery. We train our new staff and upskill existing staff to ensure they are fully trained and compliant when delivering care to clients. We can mobilise packages of care quickly, meaning people can get settled back into their own home as soon as possible after a spell in hospital or respite service.
Quality is everything
As a family-run business aiming for the highest standards, we are regulated by the CQC (Care Quality Commission) and CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales) – independent bodies who carry out regular inspections to assess the standards of quality and safety of our care services.
Alongside this, we have our own vigorous and regular auditing process, including an in-house auditing tool that helps us rate each branch and focus on continuous improvement in all areas of the business.
We are proud to be consistently ranked in the Top 20 Large & Mid-size Home Care Groups on Homecare.co.uk – based entirely on reviews and testimonials from clients and their families.
We recruit and train the best people too, as we know they are our business. Our recruitment process ensures we have compassionate and dedicated staff, who benefit from excellent training, support, benefits and career progression opportunities.
Our mission is to enrich lives and support independence, not only for our clients but our team of staff as well.
We embrace innovation
Innovation is the process of creating new ideas and new ways of doing things. We always strive to be innovative – in the way we provide care, in the way we recruit staff, and in the way we develop our services. By embracing innovation, we can improve the quality of care for clients and their families, and make our care more accessible, sustainable and effective.
We have digitised our care plans and use a multi-functional platform that enables us to manage every aspect of our clients’ needs by sharing relevant information and daily updates. Families and friends of people we support can also remotely access the system, providing reassurance.
We hold a We Care Day twice a year, which gives all of our office-based staff the opportunity to go out on shift with a trained Care Assistant, meet the clients and see what a typical day involves. We also allow all our Recruiters to shadow a Carer for a day and complete their Care Certificate.
We deliver person-centred training and have skilled nursing and clinical professionals who deliver care that is specifically tailored to the needs of our clients.
We also use Care Friends, an employee referral platform where our staff can recommend people they know for our vacancies.
