Holy Saturday Retreat

Does your Lenten season hold intentional time away for nourishment or is it more of a sprint to Easter? Whatever shape your ministry or servanthood takes, we all benefit from sabbath time.

A one-day mini-retreat of rest, spiritual nourishment, contemporary art and reflection awaits! This 7-hour retreat follows the sacred pattern which Jesus modeled for us: Leaning In; Going to the Cross; Resting in God; Finding New Life. The experience is facilitated by internationally-commissioned liturgical artist Karen Brodie within the space of her 14 Stations of the Cross textile artwork.

For the first time, this artwork is being homed at the Il Museo Gallery of the Italian Cultural Centre. As this exhibition closes on April 6th, experiencing the artwork within this intimate group setting will be a one-time opportunity to join Karen in closing the space. We warmly invite you to a day of rest that will feed your spirit and soothe your soul.

Admission for this event is based on a flexible pricing model. We encourage a standard admission price of $50 CAD. However, other prices have been added as an opportunity to be supported in your participation, or to support yourself and others in their participation. Each contribution supports Karen as an artist. Karen Brodie is a liturgical artist from B.C. who has been creating vibrant, spirit-filled fabric art for churches for over 30 years. From seasonal vestments to altar banners, her work brings sacred spaces to life around the globe. Most recently, she has achieved a lifelong project of bringing the Stations of the Cross to life in vibrant fabric art, now on display at the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver until April 6, 2026. She is a licensed lay minister in the Diocese of Kootenay.
