Holiday workshops: Invention and Design (Year 3 and 4)
About this Event
Have you ever spotted a problem and thought: I could fix that? In this workshop, participants will explore the stories of some brilliant (and brilliantly overlooked) inventors throughout history before becoming inventors ourselves.
Working through the same design thinking process used by real engineers and product designers, we'll identify real-world problems - things we've actually noticed in our own lives - and develop original inventions to solve them. We'll then take each idea through the patent process, the legal step real inventors use to protect their creations, so everyone leaves with their very own patent to file.
In between, we'll take on fast-paced speed inventing challenges: a mystery problem card, a limited set of materials, and not much time. Think fast, build faster.
Everyone leaves with a patent in hand, a sharper eye for problems worth solving, and the design thinking skills to tackle them.
For children who have just completed Years 3 and 4 this term - please book based on your child’s current/most recent school year, not their new year group from September. This typically corresponds to children aged around 7–9 years old. We reserve the right to refund or deny entry to those who are not in the correct year group.
Refunds can only be issued for tickets cancelled at least two weeks (14 calendar days) in advance of the event date. Please note that this supersedes our normal event terms and conditions.
