The fur trade was one of the many contributing factors of the French/British conflict in western Pennsylvania in the mid-18th century. Historical interpreters Jake Kirsch and Matt Moore will share their knowledge of the Canadian Milice (militia) and the French fur trade, giving us a better understanding of the French combatants of the Battle of the Monongahela, and the lives of the colonists of New France.
History Alive! at Fort Ligonier is an engaging experience for visitors to learn more about the daily life of a frontier military outpost in North America during the 18th century. Through daily programming depicting typical activities of a military site such as soldiering, manual labor, tailoring, laundry, and cooking, and special weekend demonstrations from 18th century artisans, History Alive! portrays the people who fought and lived at Fort Ligonier during the Forbes Campaign of 1758.
This educational program is made possible by a #PreservingAmerica grant from Americana Corner.
History Alive! is included with Fort Ligonier’s regular admission fees.
