Watch George Franks handcraft a historical hat from the colonial-era 1701-1799!Geo. Franks, Hatter offers hand crafted, round blocked historical hats in wool felt and fur. All patterns are documented. All methods and materials are correct to the period and sewn by hand by the hatter himself.
George’s hats are featured in museum exhibits, worn at historic sites, in personal collections, and worn by discriminating living historians. He is a former officer and Governor of the Company of Military historians and remains active in the Brigade of the American Revolution and Continental Line.
History Alive! at Fort Ligonier is an engaging experience for visitors to learn more about the daily life of a frontier military outpost in North America during the 18th century. Through daily programming depicting typical activities of a military site such as soldiering, manual labor, tailoring, laundry, and cooking, and special weekend demonstrations from 18th century artisans, History Alive! portrays the people who fought and lived at Fort Ligonier during the Forbes Campaign of 1758
