On November 8, MOPOP invites you to honor Hip-Hop History Month with a full day dedicated to the genre that reshaped art, music, and identity. Experience Beats + Rhymes: A Collective Narrative of Hip-Hop, a community-curated exhibition by Guest Curators Syreeta Gates and Abstract Kouadio, plus MOPOP’s Youth Advisory Board. This special edition of the Guest Curator Program explores the five pillars of Hip-Hop—MCing, DJing, Graffiti, Breakdancing, and Knowledge of Self—showcasing costumes, ephemera, photos, and more. Throughout the day, enjoy special programming (think DJ demos, film screenings, an expert panel) that presses play on Hip-Hop Culture from 1970 to 2000.
