HICKORY TRAIL CLEANUP BIKE/WALK Join us on the Hickory Trail for picking up trash, making our community cleaner, and having a blast! 🚲🚶
We wanted to have a fun event lined up to promote at our first meeting, and we thought this would be easy, casual, and require not much work to put together. This will allow us to get outside, make use of our green spaces, and bring some mutual aid to our communities.
Ideas tossed around for this event include:
- Moving this event monthly to other cities?
- Contacting a bike rental company to see if they would like to help the effort with a discount
- Possibly and informally "adopting" the Hickory Trail for trash pickup
- Eventually getting a bike trailer that screams DSA Catawba Valley (or whatever name is chosen and shirts too!)
- And any other ideas YOU come up with
Event Details:
-Park at Cafe Pedal Works (883 Highland Ave SE, Hickory). Grab some coffee/energy while you're there and support a great local small business! (Mas Amor is closed so park on that side out of consideration of open businesses and their customers)
- Walking group: Start from Cafe Pedal Works along the City Walk portion of The Hickory Trail. We will take a slow pace picking up trash as we go.
- Bike crew: Start from the same meetup spot at Cafe Pedal Works, ride out to the end (or a planned turnaround point), then work our way back picking up trash along the route.
- Everyone meets up in the middle to combine efforts, share what you've collected, and wrap up together!
-Bring gloves if you would like them, and if you're riding, bring a bike and a backpack. We’ll supply the trash bags! Let's clean up and have fun! 🚲🚶
